Hamilton Zoo

It was a Wednesday morning when Room 4 went to the Hamilton Zoo because we had earnt it by being good and getting all the marbles in the jar.
When we got to school, Mrs Thomson was sorting out the kids who were going with the parent helpers. My Mum was a  helper. We had Paige, Mackenzie, Madeline, Jahnyva, Tyarne and  me in the car.
Mrs Thomson put us in groups and my group had 4 people in it. We  had to unpack our bags and take everything  out  so we had an empty  bag.
After everyone  had unpacked their bags, Mrs Thomson told us what to put in our bags. We only  were allowed to have a hat, a drink bottle, a lunch box and a jacket. The kids started  to slowly walk out of the classroom and go to their parent helper. Jahnyva  and Madeline were singing on the way to the zoo.
Soon,  we  arrived at the Hamilton Zoo. I was  so excited.
First, we waited  patiently for the rest of  the class to   get to the zoo, then we  entered.  I was so happy to go in and  see all the cool animals they had.
My favourite animals were the giraffes, meerkats, Red Pandas and  the peahens.

After we had been around the zoo, the whole class had to go into a classroom at the zoo. We saw a mat made out of cheetah fur on the wall. I saw two lizards standing still like a rock. There were some fish and a frog. Matt, a zoo keeper, showed us the whole Hamilton Zoo then we got into the car and drove back to school.

Sun Side Zoo

It was a  beautiful day in the school holidays when Lily and John went to Sun Side Zoo. They saw lots of different animals like monkeys, cheetahs, tigers and birds, but their favourite animal was the  baby lion.

“Mum, Dad, can we see the baby lion, please?” asked Lily and John in a begging voice.

“Ok,” said Mum. “Don't be long. Be back here in half an hour.”

“Ok,” said Lily, then they ran off excitedly to see the baby lion.
Inside their area, the zoo keepers were feeding it. One of the zoo keepers invited them to come in to feed the baby lion and the zoo keeper walked out and forgot that Lily and John were the cage. He accidentally locked Lily and John in the baby lion cage.
Soon after the baby lion had it’s lunch, it started to jog slowly over to Lily and John. They screamed as loudly  as they could. Their mother heard them and came running as fast as she could. When she saw what was happening, she yelled at it and scared it away.
Lily asked,” Can we go home, now please?”
“Ok,” said Mum.

Guy Fawkes

One cold night, my mum talked to my friend's mum and discussed if we were going to their house for the  fireworks.
When we were driving, I felt anxious and excited. When we got there, my friend said, ''Come on, Brogen. Let's go and play."
It was late when the fireworks began.
Suddenly! we heard a BANG! and a BOOM! and a CRACK! My friend got a fright. My mum came out and got some picnic chairs out of the car.
Mum said, "You guys can sit on the chairs until the adults come out."
Soon, the adults came out and the kids had to sit on the ground on a soft picnic blanket with some other soft blankets around us.
I started to roll down the driveway. Soon, I was down at the bottom of the driveway. I hit the gate. My friend said, "Come on, Brogen. Let's have a race up the driveway."
When we got to the top, the fireworks had started. There were lot of colours. There were fiery red  and Christmas colours, and a colour that looked like a sun and one that looked as gold as a new bracelet.
At the end, they set off, lots at the same time. There was even a swirly and curly one. It looked amazing.
After the fireworks were done, my friend's mum said, "Let's let a wish lantern go."
My dad lit the lantern and let it go. It went really high, like a sky-tower.
I hope I can go there again.

Going To The Fiji Resturant

It was Thursday afternoon. Mum, Dad and I went to Fiji for my mum’s 40th Birthday. Dad and I surprised Mum with a lovely dinner.  It was a restaurant in Vomo Island.
When I walked into the restaurant, I saw lots of people talking. I also saw lots of yummy foods and it smelt delicious. There were hundreds of Christmas lights hanging on the walls and there were beautiful tropical flowers on the tables. I saw different lots of different coloured lanterns.
Shortly after we arrived, a waiter came over and took us to a table. I ordered fish and chips for dinner. My fish tasted fantastic. The waiter brought my dinner to me.
I got to sit on the rocks. I saw bats flying around. The bats were in dark black and light pink.
During dinner, I saw a lady outside on the beach playing a light brown ukulele, dancing to the awesome notes coming out of the ukulele.
Mum told me to go and have a dance with her. I swirled around and tap danced on the beach. It was so much fun. Mum and Dad watched me dance then they joined in. Mum  looked so beautiful in her new blue and purple dress.
When we were done, we got a taxi back to our resort.
It was an awesome night and I would love to go there again.

Food For Dinner

I think we should have fish and  chips once a week. When you hear my reasons you will agree with me.
Potatoes are healthy for you.  Potatoes are vegetables and the potatoes are fried and got potatoes inside the chips.

So that mum doesn’t need to  wash the slimy  dishes. you can just have the fish and chips on the newspaper that you have been given from the fish and chips
and you get to dip your chip in the tomato  or barbecue sauce.
you  don’t need to wash the dishes. It’s a good dinner to have and it’s yummy. tomato’s are good for you and very red.
chips are healthy for you and easy to eat.

fish and chips go well together nicely.

World Of Maths

On Monday, we went into the hall to see a man, Mr Pea. We played  some awesome Maths games. We did the See-Saw game. On the See-Saw, there were blocks called Mr Red and Mr Yellow and Mr Blue. Mr Yellow fell off the See-Saw then we moved  to the Milkman. We had to turn left, then turn right, then turn left 2, then turn right 2 more.
The  hard puzzles, I  worked them out. We  had to make some shapes called  - that was so  hard. There was a game called How Tall. The colours were yellow and black and blue, purple and  green it was so hard. It was a fun morning.

My Puppy

Last  Friday, I got a baby puppy. His name is Razeika. He has needle teeth. He has a wet nose. He has a soft body. He has a soft head. He’s got a milk bottle and he’s got a coke bottle and he has a dark brown camel and a water bottle.  He makes a lot of  noise! He wakes me up early in the morning. He has a little bit of tan and black on him. He is good at Tug ‘o War. He pulls very very hard. If you wiggle a toy, he will run after it. It is very  funny. My dad teaches my puppy to play. My mum teaches him to heel. I teach him to sit. He is my friend! I LOVE him!

El Grego's Magic show

On Friday, our whole school went  into the hall to watch some magic and an anti-bullying show. My favourite part was when El Grego made the table fly. It was a wooden table and it had a dark blue cloth on it. It had a small wooden box on it and it had Jessica’s name in it on a piece of paper. The audience were amazed.
They said, “WOW!”
El Grego said the magic words, “Float.”
The table floated slowly into the warm air then back down again.
El Grego said to Jessica, “Do you want to help me?”
Jessica said,  “Yes,”  then the table slowly lifted up then came back down to where Jessica was standing. Jessica was smiling.

Anti-Bullying Poem

Bullies can hurt peoples feelings.
They can make people cry.
They can can hit or punch.
They  can make you feel scared and afraid.
If you get bullied, don't just sit there. Go get a mate.
They can swear.
They can threaten you.
They can push you.
They can steal your things.
They can call you names.

Easter Day

At Easter, I woke up really early in the morning. I found a huge tinker bell bucket. I ran up the freezing  stairs. I found a tiny Chocolate Bunny on the  tropical fish tank. I ran up the tiled stairs fast because Mum called me. She said Happy Easter! I found a huge Chocolate Bunny in my colourful room.  I yelled out to Mum and Dad.  I woke Dad up. Mum softly walked into the hot lounge - the fire was on. I asked Mum if I could eat a delicious Chocolate Bunny. I had a huge bucket of medium eggs. They were wrapped in beautiful coloured tinfoil. The eggs were dark brown. They  were very yum. We walked to the big bakery. I had a yummy pie.

Holy Thursday Liturgy

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Room 4's Favourite Foods

Waka Racing

Today, we walked to the riverbank to watch the Regatta waka races.
When we got to the riverbank, we sat down to watch the races. The water was sparkling and the crowd on the other side of the river was shading under tent tops. Some crews were getting into the waka to go up-river for their races.
Harrigan’s crew was rowing next. We moved into the shade, and it was so hot. I was boiling. We were excited. Room 1/2/3 and 4  were there as well. We were shouting Go! St Paul’s when they went past us then  everyone  ran up the steep hill to see Harrigan’s  crew  start then we ran down the hill to see the waka come down the river. They were rowing fast against the water and the wind. The paddles were turning forwards and round and round.
It was an amazing day. Harrigan’s crew came second.  We shouted yahoo hurray.
After the fifth race, Mrs Thomson said to our whole class, we are leaving. We lined up then we walked back to school.

Live Simply Day

Today is Live Simply Day. We have a Live Simply Day so that we can stand in solidarity with the poor people, in our world . To live simply means to not watch tv and things like that and they do not have a clock.

Hot Air Balloon Day

Today our whole school went out to our school field when I saw the there was a huge hot air balloon on our field.
There was a penguin on the balloon.
First  Mrs Thomson went in the balloon. She was vidioing on her camera.
When Mrs Thomson was done, Mr Keogh went up into the Balloon .
I was lining up for a ride. Paige, Ruby, Keira and I went together on  the hot air balloon. When it was our turn, we climbed into the balloon, then Clare said to the men, "Don't hurt my Gym girls."
They said, "Ok."
We went up very calmly  and gracefully. We went up very high. When we came down the penguin was squashed. We had to be patient and have faithfulness.
Before I went on the hot air balloon, I had to be hopeful. The hot air balloon was very colourful. The colours were yellow, red, orange and maroon. The basket was made out of cane and there was a blanket over the cane. We hovered  above  the ground. I was  boiling like crazy. At the end, my Mum went up with Quinn’s mum in the hot air balloon then they put the hot air balloon down. Our whole school helped to get it down. It was amazing.

My Shell

My shell looks like a moon or a cave. I think that it came from a clam.
It looks beautiful and sharp. Half of the shell is shiny and soft. I love my shell. It is a cool shell. It smells like the sea. It was carried by the sea. The sea is salty. All the sea animals live in the sea to keep themselves alive.
I think it has been in the shallow part of the sea. It has some yellow on it and some cracks in it. I love it. It looks like a moon. I think it travelled from the Waikato River  to the Cavalli Islands. It must have been an awesome journey.

Swimming Sports

Yesterday, our school had our swimming sports at the Ngaruawahia Town Pools.
The first race we did was freestyle. At the start Mr k said to get into the pool. Mr K raised his arms and said, “On your marks ,get set, go!”
We were off like a rocket. We were kicking our legs and feet and our arms were going fast over our heads. It was cold and I was shivering like crazy. My heart was beating very fast and I had butterflies in my stomach. We got out of the pool then we waited for the next race.

It was backstroke. While we  were waiting for the next race, the big kids did their race. Brooke and Pearl dived in like a shooting star. Pearl caught up to Brooke in backstroke.  Brooke won.

Honey Bees

What I found out: Bees collect the nectar by going from flower to flower then they put it into their stomach and carry it back to the hive. They put it in a hexagon shape. It turns into honey.
